12 Karat Solid Gold Jewelry Specifications
12k gold jewelry contains 50% pure gold and is normally mixed with silver, copper, or other metals to form this durable and beautiful solid gold alloy. And since the gold content in 12k is right at 50%, this is by far the easiest karat jewelry to determine value.

The majority of 12k gold alloys are not used for making solid gold jewelry. Instead, it is much more popular for gold-filled and gold-plated items like pins, tie-tacks, and even pen and pencil sets. Occasionally, Black Hills Gold will be made with 12k solid gold, but most jewelry makers (and buyers) prefer either the higher durability and lower cost of 10k gold, or the finer quality and higher gold content of 14k gold. Still, 12k gold has it's place soundly in the center.
